Panel Replacement - Safety Procedures	Skill Level 1

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Use all necessary PPE for the tasks to be performed.
		2.) Read and understand all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that apply to the task.
		3.) Read and understand all Technical Data Sheets (TDS) that apply to the task.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Know where your PPE is stored and when to use it.
		2.) Know how to access SDS.
		3.) Know how to access TDS.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Make sure apprentice is using PPE as needed for job.
		2.) Make sure apprentice is referencing SDS and TDS as needed.

Panel Replacement - Reference Procedures	Skill Level 1

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Research and acquire the correct procedures for the operation prior to beginning repair.
		2.) Follow the OEM procedures.
		3.) If no procedures exist, refer to I-CAR's Uniform Procedures for Collision Repair.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show how to access OEM procedures and where the I-CAR UPCR is stored.
		2.) Use the OEM procedures when available in doing work.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Make sure apprentice is referencing OEM procedures during the repair planning stage.
		2.) Make sure apprentice is referencing the I-CAR UPCR if OEM procedures are not available for the task at hand.

Panel Replacement - Assess Damage and Develop Repair Plan	Skill Level 1

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Inspect panel to be replaced and adjacent panels/parts for damage.
		2.) Document any related or unrelated damages if not listed.
		3.) Devise repair plan using OEM procedures or substitute if not available.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show you how to inspect adjacent panels/parts for damage, and how to document any related or unrelated damages if not listed.
		2.) Have a mentor show you how to devise a repair plan using OEM procedures.
		3.) Follow your mentor's guidance when performing work.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Make sure apprentice is inspecting adjacent panels/parts for damage.
		2.) Make sure apprentice is documenting any related or unrelated damages on adjacent panels/parts.
		3.) Make sure apprentice is referencing OEM procedures or substitute during the repair planning stage.

Panel Removal - Protect Adjacent Areas	Skill Level 1

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Cover or otherwise protect adjacent parts/panels from damage during process.
	Work Practices	2.) Take care to protect paint on the edges of adjacent parts (example - masking tape).
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show you how to properly protect adjacent panels.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Verify compliance with instructions.

Panel Removal - Disable Electronics	Skill Level 2

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Disable electronics per OEM procedures.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show you how to properly disable electronics per OEM procedures.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Verify compliance with instructions.

Removal of Adjacent/Applicable Items	Skill Level 2

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Remove wiring or associated mechanical parts.
		2.) Remove trim as needed (note position of emblems & moldings).
		3.) Remove bumper / lamps / other panels as necessary.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show you how to remove adjacent parts as needed.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Verify compliance with instructions.

Removal of Fasteners	Skill Level 2

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Discard damaged fasteners.
	Work Practices	2.) Discard one-time use fasteners as directed by OEM procedures.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Follow the OEM procedures to identify one-time-use fasteners.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Make sure the apprentice is discarding one-time-use and damaged fasteners.

Inspection of Surrounding Components	Skill Level 2

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Inspect mounting locations and brackets for damage.
	Work Practices	2.) Inspect structural components for damage.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show you how to properly inspect structural components and brackets for damage.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Verify compliance with instructions.

Inspection of New Part/Panel			Skill Level 2

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Inspect new panel/part if replacing components.
	Work Practices	2.) Mirror-match new part to existing, verifying mounting hole locations and trim compatibility.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Have a mentor show you how to mirror-match new parts and inspect them prior to installation.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Verify compliance with instructions.

Installation of New Part/Panel			Skill Level 2

Remove and Replace Bolted-On Parts	Work Practices	1.) Test fit for proper installation/compatibility.
		2.) Make any trim mounting holes as necessary.
		3.) Attach any associated brackets if applicable.
		4.) Install using existing (or new, if required) hardware.
		5.) Check alignment/fit prior to torquing fasteners.
		6.) Torque fasteners to required specification.
		7.) Apply corrosion protection as necessary.
		8.) Check performance and clearance to adjacent parts.
	In-Shop Experience	1.) Shadow a mentor through several panel installations so you can fully understand the process.
	In-Shop Experience	2.) Do panel installations with the guidance of your mentor.
	Skills Assessment	1.) Verify that the apprentice is properly installing the new panels.
