New Video: Fender Liner Flange Repair

Many bumpers have a flange about an inch inside the wheel well where the inner fender liner mounts. This feature sticks out perpendicularly from the bumper face and often tears right at the base. Because of the 90 degree angle and the thin plastic at the base, this feature is hard to repair with two-part epoxies. With Polyvance's nitrogen plastic welder and 90 degree angle welding rod, this is an easy repair.

Bombardier Recreational Products has introduced several Sea-Doo personal watercraft with a new hull material they call “Polytec”. Polytec is a glass fiber reinforced polypropylene material. In this video, we will repair a two foot-long crack in a Sea-Doo SPARK Polytec hull using Polyvance’s nitrogen plastic welder and R18 glass-reinforced polypropylene welding rod.

In response to the lack of hand sanitizer available in the stores currently, Polyvance is using its spare manufacturing capacity and ready supply of isopropyl alcohol to make hand sanitizer. Polyvance's hand sanitizer is made according to the World Health Organization's formula under an exemption by the US Food and Drug Administration which temporarily allows non-FDA approved facilities to manufacture the product.

The 8000-series nitrogen plastic welders from Polyvance include a patented quick-release hose and handle. The new hose allows for quick and easy replacement of the handle and hose in the field. Unfortunately, some people are not screwing the connector on properly, causing unrepairable damage to the connector. We have just released a short video showing the proper way to install the new 6102 handle to the hose.
New Product: 6149 Sensor Hole Cutting Kit

Polyvance’s new 6149 Sensor Hole Cutting Kit makes it quick and easy to cut round holes in bumper covers for the installation of parking sensors. Some replacement bumpers are supplied without holes and are marked on the backside for the proper position of the sensor holes, requiring the technician to cut the holes. This is a time-consuming task and is difficult to achieve a perfectly round hole using typical shop hand tools.

The corner of a bumper is fairly weak and can sustain damage even if it’s not directly impacted in a collision. This type of damage is very common and often seen in body shops. A collision repair technician can repair this type of damage and restore the bumper to like-new condition using products and equipment from Polyvance.
Polyvance Inducted Into Japan Autobody Repair Work Association

Polyvance, a leading manufacturer of automotive plastic repair and refinishing products based in Rainsville, Alabama, began to export products to Japan in 2019 through its exclusive distributor there, T-Craft Co., Ltd., based in Nagoya. Nitrogen plastic welding has not yet been adopted in Japan, so it has been received with interest. As a result of T-Craft’s success in demonstrating the Polyvance nitrogen plastic welder in Japan, the technology has been recognized by the Japan Autobody Repair Work Association (JARWA).

This tractor mount tank is used to store both water and chemicals. According to the owner, the tank costs around $5000! Part of the tank had been melted pretty badly, warping the plastic and turning it brown. It also had a small crack in it. The tank is made of polyethylene, so we were able to repair it with our R04 LDPE welding rod.

1993 Ford Mustang Cobra Bumper Repair

We recently repaired a 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra rear bumper for Duke's Body Shop. The bumper was made of polyurethane, and it had some pretty bad damage on it. We did the repair with the airless plastic welder and thermoplastic (meltable) polyurethane welding rod.
