Long tears in bumper covers and headlight tabs are sometimes challenging to hold in place while performing a repair. Sometimes aluminum tape alone can’t hold the crack together or conform to the detailed surfaces. The 6204 Hot Spot cordless plastic stapler is ideal for holding broken plastic parts together while you perform a permanent repair.
The tool is small, lightweight, and easy to maneuver into tight spaces. It’s a cordless rechargeable tool so it’s very easy to handle.
Simply insert the staple of your choice into the electrodes and push the button one time to heat the staple instantly. Push the staple about halfway through the plastic, then release the button to cool the staple off. Hold the staple in position for a few seconds while the plastic re-solidifies. Remove the stapler, then repeat the process as many times as necessary to hold the repair together.
Always wear proper safety gear while working!

Long tears in bumper covers and headlight tabs are sometimes challenging to hold in place while performing a repair. Sometimes aluminum tape alone can't hold the crack together or conform to the detailed surfaces. The 6204 Hot Spot cordless plastic stapler is ideal for holding broken plastic parts together while you perform a permanent repair.
Some tears on plastic bumpers are too long for aluminum tape to hold them properly. This is a perfect time to sink a few hot staples into the plastic to hold the bumper together so you can make your permanent repair.
Polyvance's 6204 Hot Spot cordless plastic stapler is perfect for holding together or reinforcing a plastic repair. The tool is small, lightweight, and easy to maneuver into tight spaces. It's a cordless rechargeable tool, so it's very easy to handle. Simply insert the staple of your choice into the electrodes and push the button one time to heat the staple instantly. Push the staple about halfway through the plastic, then release the button to cool the staple off. Hold the staple in position for a few seconds while the plastic resolidifies. Remove the stapler, then repeat the process as many times as necessary to hold the repair together.
In this case, we put a few staples on the outside to hold the crack together. Polyvance's 6485 heavy-duty aluminum tape is also recommended to further support the damaged area and to prevent melted plastic from blowing through from the backside. Perform your permanent repair with the nitrogen plastic welder. When finished, you can remove the staples from the front by reheating them with the plastic stapler.
You may also melt staples into the backside and keep them in place for reinforcement of the repair. Make sure not to melt the staple in too deeply or it will cause problems when you repair the outer surface. Cut the ends of the staple off and grind slightly flush with sandpaper.
The 6204 Hot Spot cordless plastic stapler comes packaged in a durable carrying case and includes 100 each of five kinds of staples in an organizer box. The kit includes a five-volt charger with a micro USB plug to charge your stapler between uses. The stapler battery has been tested to perform 150 uses between charges. If you need the staple to be at a particular angle to get it in the right place, bend the staple to whatever angle you desire. This is nice for getting into tight spaces, like on this headlight.
Speaking of headlights, hot staples are great for holding broken tabs in place while you perform a quality repair using a nitrogen plastic welder. Headlight housings are usually made of polypropylene with talc filler, which breaks very cleanly. Simply hold the tab in the proper position, and melt a couple of hot staples into the sides across the break. If you want to keep the staples in the tab to reinforce it, cut the ends of the staples off with diagonal cutters, and grind the ends flush. The staples will hold the tab while the tab is fused back in place with the nitrogen plastic welder.
