This video demonstrates why nitrogen hot air plastic welding is superior to regular hot air welding. Notice how much smoke is generated with regular hot air plastic welding and how little smoke is generated with nitrogen welding. Notice also the glowing, burning plastic with regular hot air welding. Nitrogen acts like a shielding gas to prevent the burning and oxidation when using just air.
