The holes will need to be filled and the ...

Recreating a tab with a "living hinge Many times you'll see bumpers that have a flexible tab, usually at the bottom of the bumper. These tabs have a "living hinge", which is a thin line in the plastic where it naturally wants to flex. These living hinges are very weak and are easy to tear. You can't repair it at the hinge line because it won't be flexible there anymore. To do this,...
Welding a Broken Bumper Slot Because of the strength provided by the nitrogen welding system, you can make strong repairs even when you don't have a lot of surface area on which to weld. A perfect example is the slots on the edge of the bumper where the bumper snaps into the quarter panel, like on a Honda bumper. These often seem to break out when the bumper is removed. There's no...
Bumper & Cladding Color Coat Permanently recolor faded and scuffed plastic bumpers and trim You know those parts like bumpers, side cladding, and trim where the color is "molded-into" the part? These "molded-in-color" parts are found on many of today's cars, trucks, and SUV's. Anyway, they quickly start to look pretty sad. They fade in the sun; they scuff and mar easily; the...

A few months ago, we repaired a Kia Optima bumper cover that was damaged in an accident. A new bumper cover was not available and there was no estimate for when one would be back in stock. Using Polyvance plastic repair tools and equipment, we were able to repair the damage and recondition the bumper cover to like-new condition.
Polyvance’s new 6144 Compression Roller reduces the finishing time and improves the strength of plastic welds by smoothing and compressing the joint between the plastic filler rod and the base material. The Compression Roller can also be used to improve the appearance of back-side welds and increase the speed with which reinforcing mesh can be embedded into a repair.
Polyvance is excited to introduce our new PR-05 Texture Refinishing Course. The new PR-05 course provides the background knowledge and hands-on training allowing shops to restore damaged textured parts, improve cycle times, and reduce severity.
