Polyvance's steatement about bumper repair on ADAS vehicles
Polyvance's response to the recent (June 2018) GM position statement on plastic bumper repair on ADAS-equipped vehicles:
Polyvance stands 100% behind performing safe repairs, so we certainly are not going to contradict an OEM position statement regarding repairs to ADAS-equipped bumper fascia. There are still loads of opportunity for plastic repair on other non-structural plastic parts -- headlight tabs, underhood and interior plastics, rocker panel moldings, etc. Repairs to these components can still improve cycle time and profitability for the shop and technician. Plus, not all vehicles have ADAS components, so those fascia are opportunities. If common sense someday prevails and the OEM allows for it, people may recognize that a spot repair on a bumper in an area away from an ADAS sensor does not pose any undue risk. Nissan allows for repair in areas outside of a certain radius of the sensor -- this seems to make more sense than the blanket prohibition from GM.
