We just finished a repair on a large 500 gallon tractor mount tank for a local customer. According to the owner, the tank costs around $5000!
This tank is used to store both water and chemicals. Part of the tank had been melted pretty badly, warping the plastic and turning it brown. It also had a small crack in it. The tank is made of polyethylene, so we were able to repair it with our R04 LDPE welding rod. This repair didn't take very long, and we were able to save the customer a lot of money! View photos of the repair process below.
The initial damage
A section of the tank had been melted, causing the plastic to distort and turn brown.
After grinding away the melted plastic
The tank already looks so much better after removing the melted plastic! We can see the crack that had been hidden beneath the warped plastic. In addition to fixing the crack, we have a some gaps to fill in to make the surface level again.

After welding the crack and filling in the gaps
We used our R04 LDPE welding rod to fill in the damaged area. Now the surface of the tank is flush again. The tank is ready for use!
