Many applications use high density polyethylene (HDPE) rather than low density polyethylene. This plastic also has a waxy feel to it like low density polyethylene. When sanded at high speed or when it is cut with a jig saw, it is not as "hairy" as low density polyethylene. Almost impossible to paint. Each rod measures 12 inches (30 cm) long and is 1/8th inch (3 mm) in diameter. Approximately 255 rods in 1 lb. (0.45 kg)
